Top Dog-friendly Places in the US

As a dog lover, most things you want to do aren’t quite the same if you can’t take your pooch with you. This means that you will need to plan any activity or trip ahead of time. Certain cities in the U.S. are more dog-friendly than others, and there are many places that welcome dogs. There are often places that are more dog-friendly than you think.

Casinos

Did you know that you can take your dog on a trip to Las Vegas? At dog-friendly hotel and casino complexes, your dog will be very comfortable. You will need to keep it on a leash in the communal areas but there are usually designated pet-friendly areas where you can take them. You may have to pay a pet-cleaning fee but this is worthwhile for being able to have your dog with you. In-room amenities usually include a mat, food, and water dishes, and disposable waste bags.

Many of these dog-friendly casinos are located in Las Vegas. If you don’t have any dog-friendly casinos nearby, you can still play gambling games at online casinos from the comfort of your home. Your dog can lie right beside you on the couch while you play slot games or table games. You can even play live dealer games that will give you more of the atmosphere of being in a land-based casino.

Beaches

Rosie’s Dog Beach in Long Beach California has a designated area in which your dog can be off-leash. It can be a really fun experience to play with them in the waves on this beach. Your dog can also socialize with all the other dogs. Another dog-friendly beach is Carmel-by-the-Sea, also in California.

Your dog can run off-leash under voice control. Find out ahead of time what beaches are dog-friendly and you can take your dog with you on vacation. By using a dog stroller, you can even take a dog with health or mobility issues to the beach. You may need a large stroller to cope with the beach sand. A dog’s easy life makes your life easier too.

Coffee shops and bars

In the past, your dog was not usually allowed into coffee shops or bars with you. Now there are shops and bars that encourage you to bring them with you. Starbucks even has a special item on the menu for dogs: it is called a “Puppuccino.” Today, a number of coffee shops have followed suit and offered these ‘pup cups’.

Savannah in Georgia is one of the most dog-friendly cities in the U.S. Dog lovers can even go on a bar crawl and take their dogs along.

Gondola Rides

Dogs are allowed to ride in a gondola across the Royal Gorge in Colorado. You can walk the bridge first and then ride the gondola back. Telluride, Colorado also has a gondola that allows dogs. More than two million people go on this gondola ride every year. It goes from downtime Telluride up to the San Sophia Ridge and on to Mountain Village. A one-way trip takes about 15 minutes.

Hikes

Taking your dog with you on a hike is possible in many places in the U.S. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in Michigan is one of these places. The lakeshore runs along the eastern coastline of Lake Michigan for miles. If your dog has a lot of energy, you can tackle the Sleeping Bear Dune climb. One of the pet care tips for taking your dog on a hike is to make sure you take a long enough water for you and your dog.
